Sixteen American kids were invited to attend.

The ribbon cutting ceremony. CEO's from the electric company, technology companies, etc. were there - and one tall American from Dept of Defense Schools.

A look at some of the Japanese kids there. They were all in their school uniforms.

Reagan received an award for "excellence in work" and 'Book Cards' worth $100 (well, with the current Yen rate more like $130). Japanese families have to pay for high school, so these book cards are like scholarships for them. We exchange them for other things.
